The other day, Fox News journalist, Sean Hannity, taught me that American Exceptional-ism is under attack. I didn't understand what he was talking about, until I told my son he needed to clean his room and he screamed, "I don't want to hear anymore of your liberal, back-sliding negativity. I am exceptional. My room is exceptional, and so is this country. And, God as my witness, we're taking this country back come November, you light-pink-undie-wearing socialist!"
"They’re not pink!" I yelled back. "They just have pink hearts on them and little unicorns!"
With that, I left, and he went back to practicing the Orrin Hatch song he's learning on his guitar and didn't clean his room.
