A Myth and a Lie That Politicians Use

There is a myth and a lie that politicians use to demonize their opponents and garner the following of the fearful. It is that capitalism has forever overcome the excesses of feudalism, or that social democracy has triumphed over tyranny. Neither extreme is true. Humanity has not evolved. Left to our own worst devices, we will devolve again into feudalistic states where the empowered will order luxury goods over the internet, while their agents torture and oppress the underclasses. It is our historical perspective and our civil institutions that have evolved, like useful work clothes, to hide and lessen our imperfections, and to shield and protect us from hazards and storms.
