Many in the world live exemplary lives without ever joining a "religion" or some other faith-based group. Across cultures, beliefs, and continents, there is a core and consistent set of basic values. Some call it the light of Christ, some call it the Holy Spirit, some call it a greater power that is bigger than the individual parts, and others call it just the development of our emotional brains.
The reason for adhering to this greater light is not as important as the fact that one does so.
Most of the blood spilt is due to internecine disputes over what group to which one must belong in order to achieve higher enlightenment. Instead, we should concentrate on the core values that link us all together.
