In our Utah acting community, I have heard film makers/directors/producers determine not to "work with people because they were “too gay,” “too Mormon,” “too non-Mormon,” “too loose,” “too righteous,” “too sober,” “too Republican,” “too Democratic,” “hurt my feelings,” “too recently broke up,” “didn't cast me,” “turned down a role,” “didn't tell me about . . .” “too (whatever),” etc.
In my productions, I don’t have a problem with any of the above, nor what “color” you are, as long as you fit the role; can be professional; keep your more florid behavior, ignorant comments and offensive conduct off the set; can deliver what you have committed to do; and bring something of value.
