Our Salmon River Journey

I’m back from the depths of the awesome granite, schist, and marbled canyon carved out by the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. I journeyed 100 miles in six days, wherein I faced the fury of white water, rocks, fire, thorns, and feral wilderness– none worse for the wear– with many a bruise, nary a muscle left untested, and with a memory for a lifetime. I will share a few photos.

The journey’s intensity was lightened by modern equipment, four hot springs, good company, and sufficient provisions. It also revealed something of our future as the wilderness burned around us, filling the air with thick smoke and leaving a landscape scarred and desolate.
