No one is “too smart for his/her own good.” This is a contrivance invented by entrenched authoritarians who know that those who gain intelligence and knowledge are a challenge to their corruption and their unjust efforts to oppress their populations and control all wealth and power.
It is also an excuse for cowardice by those who have resigned themselves to be ruled by tyranny. They use it to justify their complacency for not seeking knowledge and not speaking truth to power, and failing to stand with those who are “too smart for their own good.” They mock those who chose to rise above, because they know that challenging the status quo has its hazards. They know that they have no courage, and they would rather grovel than take up the cause of progress.
Please, be “too smart for you own good.” Challenge entrenched authoritarians, wherever you find them: in governments, businesses, religions, communities, or in your own homes.
