The following are three campgrounds around Glacier National Park, along with the stars rated them:
Many Glacier Campground – National Park Service – 4 Stars
Glacier Park Campground – Private – 3 Stars
Chewing Black Bones Campground – Black Feet Reservation – 1 Star
The campgrounds in Glacier National Park require reservations and 40 percent first-come, first-serve accommodations. This year, the reservations filled up in three hours, which, I’m sure, provides a great opportunity for the private or competing campgrounds to “make bank.”
While I understand that the Black Feet Nation was deprived of its historic, sacred grounds within the park, I was so disappointed in the poor up-keep and organization of its campground. And though I was appreciative to find it (when all other campgrounds were booked), I was hoping for better. Perhaps some enterprising person could lend them a hand.
Still, I was so impressed by the professionalism of the National Park rangers and personnel.
