The Heart of the Ocean

At the end of James Cameron's, Titanic, Rose, the lead female character, drops the fabled “Heart of the Ocean” diamond and sapphire necklace into the ocean.  This pendant symbolized the relinquishment of the belief that faith in the most expensive precious stone ever found, along with faith in a ship that was unsinkable, was anything other than foolish and misplaced.

Similarly, some think that just because Donald Trump has amassed great wealth, and possesses a personality that seems larger than life, he will cruise securely and serenely among all the icebergs of a complex world, and nothing bad can befall him and those he shepherds, due to his and their size.

That faith is so misplaced. He cannot deliver most of what he promises. He can't create jobs, he can't change economic forces that are beyond anyone's control, he can't fix the Middle East nor control its direction, and he can't prevent terrorism.

What is within his power is more insidious.  Like the Titanic, he will take this country into waters that are deep, frigid, and deadly. His Titanic ego will sink this country and all those who sail with him.  Then, it will be a scramble for survival in too few lifeboats.
