Staring Into the Falls

Today, I attended my “scene class” with actor/instructor, Glenn Morshower.
Here is my review:

Skillfully commencing a scene is like staring into the falls right after you have just taken that leap of faith off the cliff and are plunging toward deep waters. Nothing can save you at that time. You are committed. You are all alone in the measure of your being.

You are revealed for what you are at that moment of truth: “This is me, this is now, show me who I am!”

If you are sufficiently prepared, all you can do is enjoy the free fall, brace for the rarefied churning froth, and plunge into the dark – down into those deep waters – the place where you learn what you are and what you are to proclaim yourself to be.

Then, without a moment to spare, you will surface, take in that life-sustaining breath, swim to the side, and dash back up to the top to prepare to do it again. This time, you will have survived the revelations of those falls and the lessons within those deep baptismal waters. And, you will do it all over again, and you, the falls, and the plunge will grow in proportion to the capacity of your vision, that with Glenn's guidance, will forever expand.

          Thank you, Glenn Morshower.
