Donald Trump’s attack of Khizr Khan once again reveals him for the person that he is at his core: not a patriot, not a leader, but a small-minded, craven, reactionary and wannabe dictator. Dictators see all those who oppose them, disagree with them, and even challenge them (politically or in the press), as enemies to be ridiculed, hated, tortured, disappeared, and killed.
A friend of mine, from South America, decried my support of Hillary Clinton. She stated that she was voting for Mr. Trump “because of the American Dream . . . .” She indicated that she does not want a government that will take care of her, but that creates independence and not dependency. I don’t have a problem with that position, but God knows why she thinks Trump is going to be any different than any other politician. She doesn’t understand that politicians like Donald Trump create laws, tax havens, and tax breaks that allow our corporations and the wealthy to produce welfare babies who get government handouts. This further robs the American public and allows corporations to become “too big to fail.”
Being from South America, she should know something about dictators and "strong men" – and I do mean, for the most part, men (very few women in power). She appears to want to come to our country and vote for a dictator, like the ones she left behind. She wants someone to take away civil liberties, destroy the free press, and torture her and others, just like they do in South America. She wants a dictator, like those in South America, who use fear to create enemies and make all those who don’t support them into enemies to be disappeared, killed, or tortured.
