What is most alarming?
a) The leaders of a party uniting behind a man they maligned and despised; or
b) The leaders of a party uniting behind a woman whose lack of popularity they recognized, but they rather acknowledged her intelligence (a commodity that Mr. Trump has yet to possess or employ).
Listen to Mr. Trump's henchmen and women and you will be rewarded by a display of banality and viciousness unsurpassed by any corruption the uninformed will ever find in the maligned establishment. As a bonus, watch the fawning losers who, instead of taking the high road, have flocked under his expansive-money-lined wings.
Instead of embracing a presidential candidate who is a shining knight of high moral standards and of admirable qualities, they champion a man, as evil as any. They disclaim many among the politicians who have fallen out of favor because they cannot give them what cannot be achieved except through tyranny. So, they have found their tyrant.
They are slaves of fear: fear of diversity, fear of accommodation, fear of progress, fear of their own ignorance, and fear of the monsters they create in their own imaginations. The Republican establishment are slaves of their own desire: desire to win at all cost, the desire to be taken under Mr. Trump’s arms, and to be rewarded with power and money.
